On Saterday afternoon an inquest was held at the Red Lion Inn,Wycombe Marsh, before the deputy-coroner, Mr G.A. Charsley, on the body of Penelope Rixon, aged 23, daughter of Robert and Ellen Rixon, of Lacey Green, who died on Friday, at Wycombe Marsh, where she was on a visit, from the effects of taking a quantity of Battle's vermin powder.  It appeared from the evidence that deceased had been somewhat unhappy recently because she was not comfortable at home, and had threatened to destroy herself, but her friends had no idea that she would do so.  The jury ultimately returned a verdict of "Temporary insanity."

Welcome to “Lacey Green History Wiki”, it is a place to explore Lacey Green not just the past, but right up to the current day. - the people, the places and the events that shaped our history. Also our connections with the neighbouring hamlets and villages.

My name is Joan West, and for over 50 years I have enjoyed investigating local history and putting it together like a jigsaw.   It is an ever-evolving picture…. Most popular to seach is Families. This will give you a list of local families with links to each one. Or if you put any local surname in 'search' this also works well.

Social Snapshots records changes in the way we lived from the 1700s to the current day.
