Property People 1880 Suicide of Penelope Rixon

Bucks Herald 8th September 1880.

On Saterday afternoon an inquest was held at the Red Lion Inn,Wycombe Marsh, before the deputy-coroner, Mr G.A. Charsley, on the body of Penelope Rixon, aged 23, daughter of Robert and Ellen Rixon, of Lacey Green, who died on Friday, at Wycombe Marsh, where she was on a visit, from the effects of taking a quantity of Battle's vermin powder. It appeared from the evidence that deceased had been somewhat unhappy recently because she was not comfortable at home, and had threatened to destroy herself, but her friends had no idea that she would do so. The jury ultimately returned a verdict of "Temporary insanity."
