The Executors of Sarah Shard (Charles & Sarah Shard) of Grymsdyke sold to Charles Brown of Stockings (Stocken Farm), Portobello Close (5 cottages with gardens) and pasture of 2 acres, 2 roods, and 15 perches.

MARCH 9th 1881.   DEATH OF CHARLES BROWN

Charles Brown left his estate to be divided between his three nieces.    He had already sold Stocken Farm.    Fourteen cottages were independently estimated as worth £971–13s-10d

CONVEYANCE FEBRUARY 22^nd 1886

All fourteen cottages were purchased for £971–13s–10d by Charles Brown’s executor, Frederick Aldridge Clark.    The proceeds divided to the three nieces.

CONVEYANCE OF GIFT

1894.   Frederick Aldridge Clark put the 14 cottages in trust for his daughter, Margaret Emma Clark, one of Charles Brown’s nieces.

MARRIAGE NOVEMBER 21^st 1895 Margaret Emma Clark married The Most Honourable John Henry, Marquis of Ely thus becoming the Marchioness of Ely

Margaret Emma Marchioness of Ely sold to Harold Edward & Eliza Carter of Grymsdyke.
