Researchers Notes
In the Enclosures of Princes Risborough in 1823, Sarah Shard is listed as the owner of the 20 freehold allotments in Lacey Green, all of which already belonged to her. Two of these were at Darvills Hill, one was the site of the future Lacey Green Village Hall and 17 were house, cottage and land of the Grymsdyke Estate. 'Grymsdyke' has been passed down the Stone family since at least the 1600's. When this estate became freehold is still to be discovered.
Sarah married at Bradenham. If that was her regular church, Sarah's family were probably living at Grymsdyke at the time.
In the Electoral Register of 1832 (after the Reform Act) the voter for the Glebe land of Lacey Green is listed as the Reverend Charles Wm Hughes. The occupier renting it as Sarah Shard.
