John William 'Johnnie' Saunders born 1873 was the son of George & Sarah Saunders .
Elizabeth 'Daisy' Dell, born 1876 was the daughter of Jabez & Sarah Jane Dell
Johnnie and Daisy married in 1896.
John They lived at Fern Cottage, Main Road, Lacey Green
Johnnie was a carpenter and builder. Later he was also the landlord of the Public House The Black Horse, the tenancy of which he inherited from Ann Ginger, his aunt. In 1934 he was the first Chairman of the new Lacey Green Parish Council. He was a Manager of Lacey Green School and a member of Wycombe Rural District Council.
Johnnie and Daisy had 4 children as follows :-
William John Saunders born 1897 married Florence Bertha Smith in 1920. See William John & Florence Saunders
Frederick Saunders born 1899. Frederick Ralph died 26th October 1917 aged 19. He was a private in the Royal Marine Light Infantry, 2nd R M Battalion.

Cecil Jabez Saunders born 1st September 1904 married Margaret 'Maggie' Goodie from West Hendred in 1930. click Cecil & Maggie Saunders for their life story.
In 1930 John William 'Johnnie' started his own business. "J. Saunders & Son". Johnnie was a carpenter and builder. He had his builders yard and workshop on Main Road, Lacey Green, on the south side of Woodfield Cottage. The entrance of Woodfield Road was later built between the two properties. He was also an undertaker and made all the coffins to measure there. The coffins were stored upstairs and it was a favourite place for children to play hide and seek.
