John William's son, William John Saunders and his wife Flo. were living in a tiny cottage at Idle Corner.   They had 1 son, Ted, and were expecting twins and needing more room, so John bought the old Reading Room for them.   He extended it one end, making it 3 rooms with a narrow kitchen at the back.

December 1980. Death of Florence Saunders. Tribute in Hallmark by Ted Janes, the editor :_

Mrs Saunders was another native of Lacey Green, born in 1898 Florrie Smith of a strong non-conformist family, her father was Sunday School superintendent of the Methodist Chapel for more than Half a century.. In 1920 she married into the Saunders family, another well known builder, who were strongly Church of England and she became a member of St John's Church.

She had three children, Ted and twins Maurice and Millicent. The tragic death of Millicent so soon after the death of her husband William was indeed a great trial for Mrs Saunders that she bore remarkably well.

She was in love with her garden at Chorlton, and able to look after it until the last few years, when she lived with Maurice only a few yards down th road. Our sympathy is extended to both sons Ted and Maurice.

Mosh spoke of the bungalow opening straight onto the track, which was the Main Road of Lacey Green, virtually unused by traffic, his feet in the road.

Their son Maurice born in 1923, wrote about times that he and his twin sister Millicent spent with their grandfather Owen and the bodgers in Hampden Woods entitled "Children in a Bodgers' World".
