1930. Death of Isaac Lacey aged 58. Report by Trevor Stevens, great grandson. Isaac worked at a furniture factory in High Wycombe.  He was cycling home from work when he was hit by a motorbike near the railway bridge at Pictonville.    Isaac died from his injuries.   The motorbike was ridden by Bill Redrup, also a local man.

Thirty one children stayed away from Lacey Green School on 28th November to attend the funeral of Mr Lacey, who had been a Sunday School teacher at Loosley Row Baptist Church and who had during the week met with a fatal accident. (entered in the Headmaster's logbook}

A court case was held and Bill Redrup was sentenced to 6 months in jail.    However, the widow, Lily Lacey, said that she did not want Bill Redrup to go to jail.   He would have to live with the knowledge of what he had done for the rest of his life.  That would be punishment enough.   So Mr Redrup did not go to jail. click William & Kathleen Redrup for more about Bill Redrup.
