Belle Vue Cottages

research by Joan West from Deeds lent by Ian Kelloway

In the Inclosures of the Parish of Princes Risborough in 1823 the plot of land upon which the semi-detached Belle Vue Cottages were later built was allotted to John Carter Dell as freehold. click Ian & Sue Kelloway and click John Carter & Elizabeth Dell for more about these families.

A Foundation stone states that the cottages were built in 1869.

Belle Vue Cottages were built in 1869 by Rebecca nee Carter Dell & Uriah Dell. The stone on it states "This stone was laid by Laura Dell Sept 1869" Laura was their 4 year old daughter. The land on which they were built was owned in 1823 freehold by John Carter Dell, Rebecca's father.

The cottages belonged to Rebecca. In 1823 the land on which they were built had belonged freehold to her father John Carter Dell.

By 1871 Rebecca and Uriah had moved away and the cottages were let.

Around 1900 the tenant in No 2 was William Rixon.
