The Post Office was established nationally in 1840.

The 1st Post Office in this parish. Lower Road, Loosley Row.

Started by Jesse Ward in 1841 in the family's grocery and carpentry shop. The position was held in the same premises by ---Start 1841 Jesse Ward. Alfred Ward start 1881. Mary Ann Ward start 1906. Henry Allen, husband of Mary Ann Ward start 1914.

Alfred Ward the second sub-postmaster (click Alfred & Betsy Ward) was followed by Mary Ward, Alfred's daughter, --

Mary Ann Ward the third sub-postmaster (click Henry & Mary Ann Allen) was followed when she married in 1913

Henry Allen became the fourth sub-postmaster in 1914 after he had married Mary Ann Ward in 1913. (click Henry & Mary Ann Allen)

Henry and Polly Allen gave up the Post Office in 1945. They had no children

1945 – 1952   Harvey's Stores, Lower Road, Loosley Row.   1 postmaster

Arthur Harvey was the 5th sub-postmaster.  click Arthur & Emily Harvey. He had married in 1930, to Emily Floyd, daughter of George Floyd whose wife, Annie, had inherited a General Stores in Loosley Row, originally started by Henty Janes in 1864. They had taken over the business when George died, and at that time renamed it 'A W Harvey’. It wasn’t until 1945, when the Allen’s retired that Arthur took on the Post Office, at their own store.   7 years later he retired from being post master in 1952.
