In 1823 The Rowans did not exist. The land on which it was later built was part of the vast Common of Princes Risborough which covered much of Lacey Green and some land on the hilltop of Loosley Row. Click Princes Risborough Common to see two maps.

'The Rowans', on the east side of the Main Road in Lacey Green, was built on the site of The Bakehouse on Bakery Farm. Click Bakery Farm for its development from Common to Farm.

Mr S Ward and Mrs E J Ward sold to Mr B J Titchen and Mrs H M Titchen of Woodhall Spa for £74,000
Schedule. All that piece of land situate in the parish of Lacey Green having a frontage of 35ft 9ins to the Main Road together with the dwelling house and integral garage erected thereon known as The Rowans, Main Road, Lacey Green.
