In 1823 The Rowans did not exist. The land on which it was later built was part of the vast Common of Princes Risborough which covered much of Lacey Green and some land on the hilltop of Loosley Row. Click Princes Risborough Common to see two maps.

9th September 1959 Conveyance of The Bakehouse and Bakery Farm.
Sydney Henry Janes of the Bakery, Lacey Green, baker sold a auction to S Hickman & Sons (Builders) Ltd, reg. office, Loosley Row for £5,400
Schedule. 2 pieces of land in Lacey Green known as Middle Ground and Brick Kiln Ground, respectively 7acres 3roods 20perches and 8acres 0roods 23perches. Together with the messuage and premises erected on the piece of land known as Middle Ground. Altogether known as Bakery Farm, Lacey Green.
Together with a general and unlimited right of way over that part of the road known as Kiln Lane, Lacey Green which is private and unadopted.

27th March 1973 Deed of Exchange between S Hickman & Sons (Builders) Ltd with Reginald Sidney Hickman of Chiltern Breezes, Loosley Row, builder, and Frank Edgar Hickman of Braeside, Loosley Row, builder, all those 2 pieces of land being part O.S. Nos 355 & 377 containing 15 acres or thereabouts together with a right of way over Kiln Road.
5th October 1980 Reginald Sidney Hickman died. Probate granted 7th July 1981.
16th March 1983 Deed of Release between Frank Edgar Hickman of the 1st part & Gladys Mabel Stevens of Maplehurst, Loosley Row and the said Frank Edgar Hickman (the representatives of Reginald Sidney Hickman) of the 2nd part and Squadron Leader Stewart Ward and Elizabeth Joyce Ward of the 3rd part, of The Rowans, Main Road, Lacey Green-
