Hallmark October 1985. Sports And Social Club report by John A. Stevens

Another Race Night was held on Friday 1st March when 145 people came along to enjoy themselves and support one of the Sports Club's main fund-raising events: A fish and chip supper was served to the "punters" during the evening and the bar did brisk business between races, This popular event raised £375 profit which will’ go towards the running costs of the Sports Club. Thanks must go to all the willing: hands" (especially Barry Edwards) who helped to make the evening run so smoothly.

The Sports Club's contribution to Village Day on 6th July is still undecided at time of writing. It will have to be an event that allows the Saturday League Cricket Match to be played, but despite. this the Club members are determined to contribute to this important day for the villages.

Hallmark February 1987. Report by Barrie Edwards

The eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed that no report was made in the last issue of Hallmark. This was due to the previous long-serving correspondent, John Stevens, laying down the quill and my picking it up! Thanks to John for the many reports.

The AGM of the Sports Club was held in November and (for once) was very well attended. The main officers are now: Chairman Barrie Edwards, Secretary Ian Clements, Treasurer Brian Kirby. A welcome to Ian as the new Secretary and many thanks to Maureen Ebbles for her work over the years.

The Clubhouse is at last being improved. The installation of central heating to the whole pavillion and carpeting of the main clubroom will both be completed by the end of February and will greatly improve the social atmosphere. Several bookings have already been received from members for private functions and with this extra income further improvements can be made. Our thanks go to Wycombe Council Lottery for a grant of £500 towards the overall costs of £3000+. Fundraising is, as ever, a necessity and a Race Night is planned for Friday 27th February, 7.30 pm. Cost £3 including a Fish and Chip Supper. Tickets from Mike Ebbles (P.Ris 6823) or Ian Clements (Naphill 3051). These are always lively evenings so get your tickets early!
