Research by Joan West. The following is taken from The Lacey Green and Loosley Row Sports Club Minute Book 1926 - 1946, given to me by Ian Kelloway.

Researcher's note. The Football Club was one of the sections of the main Sports Club.

Gentlemen, I bring before you my AGM report of the 1928 - 1929 football season

We have played 16 league games in the Risboro' League Section II where we won 7, lost 6 & drawed 3 which give us 17 pts out of a possible 32.

The goals scored for us were 40 and the goals our opponents scored against us were 46. Our best win was with Risboro' Res. when we scored 5 goals to nil and our worst defeat was with Wycombe United when we lost 8 to nil.

We played one friendly game with a team from Saunderton when we won by 10 goals to nil. The goal scorers in the League were

W Adams 11, G Oakford 7, W Redrup 7, A Williams 5, V Hilsden 4, F Chilton 3, F Baker 2, A Stevens 2, H Parslow 1, N Rixon 1, S Dormer 1

All games played were clean and sporty and nobody sustained any serious injuries and I think we had a larger number of spectators this year to rouse us up.

I should like to thank all those who have helped me this season especially H Church (see Harry Church) for his running about getting teams together etc. All the players paid their subscription this year and I hope that next year Lacey Green and Loosley Row Football Club will be winners of the 2nd Division.

Yours faithfully .......A.C.H. Adams......Hon. Sec.

The team have been accepted into the 1st Division of the Wycombe League, and are hopeful of success in their first season back. Hallmark February 1985. Extract from the Sports and Social Club AGM - "There are 'rumblings' around the village that some of the local lads intend to get together to start the Football Club again next season. Other people have also shown interest (even a sponsor is a possibility) and it looks like there is a real chance the Football Club could start again.

Hallmark February 1987. Report by Barrie Edwards "Both teams are having a good season being 4th and 5th respectively in their divisions. The club is also through to two semi-finals - Heaths/Bridgeside in the Sunday Cup (15/2) and VSC Royals in the Sunday Shield (15/3) – both fixtures at Desborough Rec. KO 10.30 am. Home matches kick off at 10.30 every Sunday and supporters are always welcome (no membership cards required). The bar is open after matches for members and guests.

Hallmark January 1988. The Saturday side are having a good first session lying 3rd in their division. Sundays' firsts are also doing well having played and won all their 10 matches and although they were beaten in the final rounds of the Berks & Bucks Cup they are through to the Quarter Finals of the Combination Cup.

The second team are still struggling but are hoping with three new players their fortunes may improve.

Hallmark September 1991. Report by Ron Fisher. As usual, Lacey Green FC were hosts to a local 5-a-side championship which was won by Mike Keen Sports, regular finalists in this event. The 1st XI won the first three games of the season and drew the fourth. A good tough game, unfortunately marred by an accident sustained by our captain Rupert 'Bear' Hawthorne, who broke his arm in the first half. We wish him a speedy recovery.

But what has given us all great pleasure is seeing a beautifully turned out team of Juniors, now a regular fixture in the club, playing in the Wycombe Star League's under 16's. Sponsored by the Pink & Lily in a smart green and yellow kit, they turned their backs on the first outing defeat to trounce the opposition on the second showing. Welcome to their very effective manager, Steve.

Hallmark July 1992. Report by Ron Fisher. The Football club hold their annual 5-A-Side competition on Sunday 23rd August. This is a very popular event and attracts over 30 teams from the Wycombe area. Hopefully the first team will be showing off their new strip (and some skills). The purchase of this has been made possible by a very charitable donation from a local resident. Jeff Stuart, MD of Harrison's the Famous printers, who personally delivered a cheque For £500 to sponsor Lacey Green F.C. for the 1992/93 season. Jeff – "You are a Wonderful Human Being!" (sic) – thank you!

Shortly after that generous gift, the Wycombe Sunday Combination League confirmed that the First team remain in the 1st Division for the coming season.

Hallmark May 1995. report by Audrey Goodwin. The football season is now drawing to a close with only one or two matches remaining to be played. The first team will have finished about half-way down High Wycombe Combination League and the Reserves enjoyed playing!

Hallmark 2008 Report by Ben Foster. With other wins against Booker FC and The Hour Glass FC of 2-1 and 3-1 respectively, an unfortunate, if not controversial 2-1 loss on the doorstep of Wooburn Falcons, and an unlucky 1st Round Cup exit against Division 4 side Villagers FC 2-0, we find ourselves with mixed emotions. Out of the cup, are we going up? It all seems too close to call at the time of the season. The team are beginning to grow stronger mentally and physically every week, new members are joining and are strengthening the squad no end. We've caught our first glimpses of Sunday league football, all that needs to be done is to stay focused and make sure we go out every week wanting those three points.

Lacey Green FC have had a good Start to the season on reflection, but this team could not be created, maintained, or function without the efforts and hard work of others.

Where do I start?! First, all the people at The Lacey Green and Loosley Row Sports Club, who have given their trust for us to organise such a team. They have worked closely with us to ensure we get off to the best possible start second, a major thanks to our team sponsors for this year. Home Sponsors Duncan and Shakira at The Pink and Lily, and our Away sponsors, Lynne, Tony and Ian at The Black Horse in Lacey Green have been phenomenal in their support for Lacey Green FC, and cannot be more appreciative of their financial, kind will and gestures so far this season.

We'd also like to thank the following people for their contributions. Henry Craven and Tony Shadbolt for using their experience and energies to get the football team in operation. Chris Oakford and Robert Dell for their work in getting the pitch marked out and sorted for us to play. Norman Tyler for the Hallmark advertising and other administrative work. Alice Hill for her amazing grounds-person work. Phil Starling for his photography, and collecting corner flags from another county just before our first home game was about to kick off (!), Clive at The Entertainment House whose advice I can always count on. Alison Gayler for agreeing to wash the kit this season. I’m sorry if I’ve forgotten anyone, if | have, I'll buy you pint very soon.

If you require information email us at laceygreenfc@hotmail.co.uk. We need players, trainers, coaches, whatever you can bring to the team will be more than appreciated. We are also on Facebook under Lacey Green FC, please visit www.football.mitoo.co.uk. We are under Berks and Bucks and in The High Wycombe Sunday Combination Section, Division 5.
