Lacey Green has a Polo Club based at Widmer Farm where there are three full sized grounds. Matches started on May 9th and the tournament finals were played on September 7th; almost every weekend throughout the summer there has been play. Everyone is made most welcome. There is no charge to watch and yet almost no one in the village seems to know about it. Polo is a very fast and exciting game to watch. The rules are complicated, but ignorance is no bar to enjoyment.

The description Polo Pony is a misnomer. Polo was originally played from ponies but the restriction on height (14 hands 2 inches) was removed after the First World War. All the best ponies are Argentinian bred, as are most of the best players.
