Holmleigh was a property on the east side of the A4010 not far from Amen Corner.
1939 Register (Census), John Smith born 1904, Public Works Contractor, Elsie A Smith born 1904, John Maxwell Smith born 1931, Monica Smith born 1932. 1 away at war. A younger daughter Julia was not at home.
John Smith was a partner in J Smith and Sons of Walters Ash. In a field on the west side of the road Monica Smith ran a riding school. She later married Mr Amsler.
