Frederick Aldridge Clark was a lead manufacturer who lived at 40 Lynton Close, Hove. He was married to Sarah, the niece of Charles Brown of Stocken Farm, Lacey Green. Charles Brown left Gracefield to Sarah and made Frederick Aldridge Clark his Executor.
Probate
Frederick Aldridge Clark obtained probate on 20 May 1881. He settled debts and funeral expenses and sums due in, then carried out the terms of the will
Valuation
Obeying the instructions in the second codicil of the will, the obtained a valuation of the fourteen cottages , made by John Aubrey Mumford of Brill. This came to £971-13s-10d, with which all parties were satisfied.
Sale
Again, obeying the second codicil, he himself purchased the 14 cottages for £1013-9s-10d. with which all parties were satisfied and who agreed to execute the conveyance to Frederick Aldridge Clark.
Marriage Settlement
20 November 1895. In consideration of an intended marriage between The Most Honourable John Henry, Marquis of Ely, Esq, and his daughter, Margaret Emma Clark, his daughter, Frederick Aldridge Clark, put the cottages in trust for himself during his lifetime, then in Trust for Margaret Emma Clark and her assigns for her own separate use.
Marriage
21 November 1895 Margaret Emma Clark intermarried with the Marquis of Ely.
Death
21 November 1899 Frederick Aldridge Clark died
20 January 1921. Declaration
Frederick Charles Brown Clark made a declaration that he was a Trustee of the Marriage Settlement of 20 November 1895 and that he was well acquainted with the 14 cottages and land and that he as trustee had been in receipt of the rents of the cottages and was able to declare that he had read the conveyance of 22 February 1886 and believed that the cottages were comprised in and assured by that indenture.

Harold Edward Carter (click Harold Edward & Eliza Carter) of Grymsdyke purchased for £2025 from Margaret Emma, Marchioness of Ely, and the Trustees of her Marriage Settlement the 14 cottages left by Charles Brown.
