11th June 1824. Edward Anderson of Darvills Hill, baker, leased from the Manor, ground called "Collins" at Loosley Row of 1 acre, previously Thomas Barefoot's cottage with meadow/orchard of 2 acres and 3 closes of arable of 8 acres called Great Anthony. Little Anthony and Lower Baggs, now 1 close with 2 cottages on it built by Thomas Barefoot on Upper Woodway, Loosley Row in which Thomas Barefoot the younger and William Adams had dwelt. Also allotment in Middle Field of 2 roods, 13 poles
Hallmark. Research by Rita Probert. Sir George Stephen a philanthropist, born St Kitts, West Indies in 1791 lived at ‘Collins’ (now Loosley House), Lower Road, Loosley Row. He had purchased the property in the late 1830’s and later, also bought two properies, then unnamed, later called Collins Farm and Collins Cottage for his wife Henrietta’s relatives the Ravenscrofts.
'Collins' was the name given to the house later known as Loosley House during its occupancy by the family of Sir George Stephen from circa 1829 to 1849, built on the 1 acre of land called 'Collins'.
