MANOR FARMS SOLD

The Lord of the Manor of Princes Risborough, was in financial difficulty and from about 1808 onwards he sold to Lord George Henry Cavendish, later Lord Burlington, most of the Manor Farms including Culverton Farm, Row Farm (Wardrobes), Brimmers Farm, Old House, and Stocken Farm, all in the Upper Hamlets of Princes Risborough   They were all tenanted.    Lord Cavendish never lived locally and all the farms continued to be tenanted.----

Lord George Henry Cavendish already owned Brimmers Farm when the Enclosure of Princes Risborough took place in 1823.

1853. Lord Cavendish sold Brimmers Farm to Merton College, Oxford. click Merton College for more.

From well by pump to tank in roof of farm building, and hence by gravitation to house, yards and cottages and to troughs in O.S. Nos 412 and 435, and by direct pumping to the South-West portion of O.S. NO 411.

TELEPHONE wires are connected to one of the cottages.

THE FARM BUILDINGS

The farm buildings arranged around two open cattle yards include; - Timber and galvanised Barn on brick foundations; Pigsty;  span-roof Calf Pen;  2-bay open shed with coal store; brick, flint and tiled Cart-Horse Stable for 7 with Chaff House;  Two Cattle Pens with loft over;  5-bay open Cattle Shed (two bays enclosed);  6-bay Dutch Barn with 4-bay timber and galvanised Implement Shed.

EXCLUSION

The timber and galvanised Garage belongs to the tenant.

The purchaser at the above sale not currently known,  however in 1953 it was owned by Albert Eustace Jack Way, who sold it at that date.

13th OCTOBER 1953     CONVEYANCE   (extract from Deeds)

Albert Eustace Jack Way of Brimmers Farm, Near Princes Risborough, in the county of Buckingham (the vendor), agreed to sell to The Right Honourable John Mercer Henderson, Eight Earl of Buckinghamshire of Hampden Estate (the Purchaser), for Twelve Thousand Pounds, the property known as Brimmers Farm.

Research Note. From circa mid 1900's the tenants of Brimmers Farm were the Ludlow family, farmers.

10th JULY 1963. CONVEYANCE to the BUCKS WATER BOARD

10th July 1963 George Parker Jervis, Gordon Hope-Morley & Roger Parker-Jervis of Hampden Estate, sold to the Bucks Water Board, a piece of land forming part of the enclosure O.S. no.411 in the parish of Princes Risborough and having an area of 6.42 acres.

NOTE

In 1963 the Bucks Water Board constructed a reservoir on this site, replacing all the top soil so that appears to be a hill with the construction completely hidden.
