Bobby & Elizabeth King

From Lacey Green History

Robert 'Bobby' and Elizabeth 'Liz' King purchased Grymsdyke Farm in 1982

1999 Obituary of Elizabeth King by Joan West, printed in Hallmark :-

Some 17 years ago there moved into Grymsdyke Farm, Elizabeth and Bobby King. It was rumoured that the farm had been bought for their daughter and they certainly had a beloved house cow. It transpired that the potential farmer was Elizabeth.

At a time of life when some might be thinking of early retirement, Elizabeth started farming. She not only worked hard and learned fast, she was soon winning prizes with her dairy herd, and then her beef herd, for which she consistently won the best beef herd in the Chiltern Hills (10 mile radius of Wendover). Certainly all those would-be critics were put to shame, and she was soon beating them at their own game.

She didn't have time to get involved in the village because she was so busy, right up until she was struck down by a short illness that took her life. She was a vibrant, successful person and I don't think any of us in the farming world can yet believe she is no longer with us

1988 Published in Hallmark. Congratulations to Mrs. E. King, the Grymsdyke farmer and her herdsman, Stuart Wilson, for winning the prize for the Buckinghamshire Clean Milk award.
