Andrew Briscoe born 1878 was the son of Joseph & Jane Briscoe

Laura Annie Janes born 1873 was the daughter of Maria Janes (single mother), grand-daughter of John & Emma Janes

Andrew & Laura married in 1906.

No children by 1911.

ONE MONTHS HARD LABOUR.

ANDREW BRISCOE was sentenced to 1 month’s hard labour for stealing 15lbs of bacon from Herbert Witney, a grocer of Lacey Green.

Editor’s comment.  In the 1911 census, Herbert Witney aged 41, had moved from Turnip End where in 1901 he is recorded as a commercial traveller, and was now a grocer & shopkeeper on Woodway, Loosley Row.  With him were his wife Alice Maud and seven of their eight children.
