It really doesn’t seem like 10 years since we celebrated Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee, and here we were in January planning the celebration of our amazing Queens Platinum Jubilee! Wow, a 70 year reign, deserves a very special celebration and we certainly did our Queen proud in Loosley Row.

Having been given 2 extra days to celebrate, we filled them with lots of activities, games, history, flora, bunting, prizes, cake, music, dancing, laughter and some lovely memories to share for evermore.

Thank you to all the organising and planning group, the local residents of Lower Road who contributed in so many ways, and to the whole community who joined in with us over the Platinum Jubilee Weekend.

Here are some photographic memories, which we hope to be putting together, with many more, into a printed ‘Jubilee memory album’. Our traditional street party on 3rd June, began with some traditional British weather, which didn’t stop the party and our special opening ceremony with Graham Baker and friends. Graham cut the ribbon with style, and we all sang the National Anthem with accompanying music from Ken and Sally.

By the time we sat down for our picnic lunch, the rain had stopped and the sun had come out to shine on us for the rest of the day.

We were entertained by music and song from a variety of local talented musicians, Holly, Keith, Catherine, Kensal and Mojo, and ended the night with a good ole boogie and sing-along. A perfect end to a perfect day in Loosley Row.
