Alfred Atkins born 1879 at Springfield Cottages, Denner Hill was the son of George & Emily Atkins

Ruth Turvey born 1881 at Speen was the daughter of George & Annie Turvey

In 1891 census the Atkins family was living at Piggotts Common and the Turvey family was living at the adjacent hamlet of Denner Hill.

Alfred and Ruth married in 1902 and moved to Turnip End.

Alfred and Ruth Atkins had 8 children, all born at Turnip End, as follows :-

Lucy Atkins born 1902 married Ernest John Anderson in 1921. click Ernest & Lucy Anderson for their life story.

Ralph Atkins born 1906

Frederick Atkins born 1907

Vera Atkins born 1909

Gladys Atkins born 1911

Elsie Atkins born 1912

Mr Alfred Atkins, Turnip End. Rented his cottage from Ernest Anderson (click Ernest Edward & Lily Rose Anderson) Rent paid half yearly £4-15s per annum. From September 1913 increased to £5 per annum.

Ruth Atkins and the children moved to High Wycombe after the death of Alfred.

Note by Joan West. Although Alfred Atkins lived at Turnip End, he does not appear to be on the WW1 war memorial.
