1939 Register (census) Crown Field no 2. James C J Harris born 1897 chair maker, Lavinia A Harris born 1898, Eileen V Pepper born 1930, 1 entry closed for war.
Ken Barnes who lived at Pendre, Crown Field reported that James Harris built Crown Field nos 1, 2, 3 and 4. He had a yard near the bottom of Smalldean Lane which he later sold to Searls who were coal merchants. Crown Field no 1 and Crown Field no 2 were semi- detached.
