Hallmark October 1985 Comment by Ted Janes in the editorial. 'The Price We Have Paid'
That Mrs Hart has had to resign as District Councillor through ill health, highlights the price we ask of people in public life, such as Members of Parliament, Councillors and even officers of local organisations. How often do we praise such people, more often we critisize? Mrs Hart has given her time, her energy and the ultimate that the party or the electorate have no right to demand, her health. WE wish her a speedy recovery. The election for her successor will be held on October 31st, as usual we offer no advice on how to vote, all we say is please, please use your vote. To the successful candidate we say take it easy to start with, we want to be well epresented in the Council Chamber, but we aren't worth killing oneself for.

Hallmark March 1986. The County Council Scene by Denis Hart
Most of the area that I represent, from Walters Ash to Radnage, along the Oxfordshire border to Kimble Marsh, across to Ellesborough, the Hampdens and back, is farmland covered in snow as I write but shortly the scene of the annual miracle of Spring and Fastertide, No doubt many of us will watch the new-born lambs gambolling, but please, please, spare a thought for their mothers who are literally frightened to death by seeing a dog, even when it is on a lead. At the very least the sight of a dog will cause the loss of their lamb. Last year a local farmer had to shoot a labrador caught in the act of savaging ewes and lambs, and of course the victims were beyond saving. Remember that any dog caught worrying sheep can be shot on sight, and the owner sued, and worrying can be panic caused by the sight of a dog. So when you walk out in the Spring please keep your dog out of sight.
Possibly the least interesting but one of the most vital County Council services to you is waste disposal. Each one of us produces about one third of a tonne of household waste each year, and this means about 00,000 tonnes a year must be disposed of suitably if we are not to disappear in it. It is a shock to see what this includes, from dead animals hidden in 4 black plastic bag to millions of cigarettes from Customs.
Starting at our dustbins these are emptied weekly by the District Council acting as our agents, and taken to the High Heavens disposal site near Booker airfield where it is processed by a modern machine, items like spare wheels removed, and the rest mixed into a slurry and removed to an adjoining valley where it is layered with earth until the valley is filled, then a layer of topsoil when it can be planted. Completed areas are already bearing their second crop.
Another point of contact is the Bledlow Ridge Household Waste Disposal Site, the first of the new look sites, with concrete ramps where we can throw our waste into skeps which are removed when full to High Heavens. This site has a special entrance designed to prevent anything but cars entering because commercial vehicles pay to deposit waste while we get it free. When trees have been planted there will be a picnic site next docr, from which there is a magnificent view of our villages, The person operating the site on behalf of the council removes all items of saleable value, as do the gypsies elsewhere, and is paid by commercial operators, so the site is run at a profit to the ratepayer and supervised daily by the council. Waste generates methane gas, which is collected and marketed, at one site a nearby brick kiln is operated on it, at another it drives an electrical generator, and we. get better all the time. Bucks has large deposits of clay used for bricks, gravel and sand, which all become large holes which used to become moonscapes infested by vermin, now we fill them with waste until they can be used again, one is now a golf course, another a factory site, we learn as we go, and we will one day make them all contribute to the rates. The technology is new so we learn as we go. Each one is different, to enable us to discover which technique is best, all yours and worth a look. You can help be reporting rubbish for collecting to the District Council. After all, we like the area to look beautiful, help. keep it that way.

A Tribute To Denis Hart – 1920 – 1996 by Terence Hart and Elizabeth Peers (nee Hart)
It was a great shock to us to lose our father so suddenly in the early hours of Friday 30 August.
We would like to express our most sincere thanks to all the friends who came to pay their last respects at the funeral on Thursday 4 September at Saint John's Church, Lacey Green. It was very comforting to see so many faces from the village, but difficult to remember all the names.
We would in particular like to express our heartfelt thanks to the neighbours who have over the years kept a watchful eye on both our parents in very difficult circumstances. Jean and George Munro (click George & Jean Munro) have been so supportive over the last few weeks holding post and speaking to callers to the house on our behalf. They have been pillars of strength to us both for which we shall be ever grateful.
We would also like to thank Father Richard and his colleagues for a lovely service both at the church and at the crematorium.
Finally, we would like to thank Wing Commander John Bullock and members of the 33 entries for their special tribute to our father. He would have been so proud to see so many old friends from years past paying him a true RAF tribute.
It will take us both a long time to come to terms with our loss, but with the support we have received from everyone and letters/cards of sympathy we have received it is most comforting at such a difficult time.
Hallmark November 1996. It is with great regreat that we report the death of Denis Hart. Denis was involved with the local community for many years and his support will be greatly missed. We would like to extend our condolences to his family at this sad time.
