Hallmark February 2021. Lockdown litter pick in Loosley Row! by Tim Macgillivray

I’m sure most of us remember a time when we were able to organise a spring clean of the village, the last one being nearly two years ago!

With the restrictions as they are (at the time of writing) I’m pleased to say that we have a few sturdy residents using their outdoor exercise time to quietly litter pick around Loosley Row.

Equipped with a picker, gloves and sturdy refuge bags we have collected and cleared an amazing amount of litter over the last few weeks.

Sadly, it’s not just the odd crisp packet or fast food cups being scooped up. Illegal dumping appears to be on the rise locally, with large plastic containers, piping, a microwave and even a boiler has been found! Some of this clearly cannot go into grey bins and if you find this is the case you can email Cllr Carl Etholen at Carl.Etholen@buckinghamshire.gov.uk who will contact the waste team for you.

Our thanks to the Ashtons, Tim and Sue Halliday (Tim & Sarah Halliday), the Morley family, and Gordon and Sue Donkin (Gordon & Sue Donkin) for their fine efforts.

Another place to report fly tipping and other road and footway issues is ‘Fix My Street’ on the Buckinghamshire Council website. www.fixmystreet.buckscc.gov.uk If you can take a photo of the offending item to post and its location, so much the better!

We are looking to coordinate with residents in Lacey Green over the next few months to litter pick in the village. Please do let me know if you’re interested via clerk@laceygreen-pc.org.
