In January 2024 David Clay sent the following email regarding the Touring Caravan Site they had at Lane Farm, Church Lane, Lacey Green.

'The Caravan Site was agreed with the Caravan Club (who had legal rights) as a certificated location for up to only five touring caravans at any one time, not to be confused with static caravans or larger sites for over five vans which needed Council permission.

I was required to provide a tap with clean water off the mains, a bin for rubbish (No blue or green bins in those days) and a closed pit for waste/sewage which had to be emptied at cost by the Council fairly infrequently.

I cannot remember the date when this was started but permission lapsed when we sold Lane Farm. The charge increased over the years from £2.50 per night to I think about £5 per night. We were able to sell eggs and honey to our friendly caravaners.

We never had any problems with them or complaints from neighbours. Except the geese had access into the field where they enjoyed the scraps thrown to them by the caravaners who were then bothered by all the poops they left behind on the grass. I would spend time trying to collect it up for use in our vegetable garden!!'
