Lawrence and Sarah Brown took over the license of The Crown in 1915

Lawrence and Sarah had 5 children as follows :-

Lawrence died in 1924 and Sarah Brown, with the help of her mother, Mrs. Ellen Janes, (click Ellen Stallwood for Ellen's life history)), carried on the business and brought up her family of five children. She remained at the Crown for 57 years.
