Beggar's Roost in the 1950s was a Nursery/Market Garden owned by Mr and Mrs Pearman. It was situated on the left-hand side of Foundry Lane from the Little Lane turning.
It was reported in Hallmark that Beggar' Roost, the home of Mr and Mrs V. Southon was struck by lightening on Friday evening, 6th July.
