1962 Lease for Extra Land to enable a tennis court to be built in the southeast corner of the Sports Club grounds.

10th January 1962.

Lease between Richard Montague West and Hilda Elsie West both of Stocken Farm Lacey Green in the County of Buckingham, "the landlords", of the one part and Edwin Leonard Biggs of "Wayside Cottage", Lacey Green and Herbert Steven Tong of "Woodfield Cottage", Lacey Green "the Trustees"

Schedule. The Landlords leased to the Trustees - All that piece of land situate at Lacey Green having a frontage of 15 feet against Slad Lane and a depth therefrom of 140 feet (upon which to build a tennis court) to hold for the term of 86 years from the 1st January 1962 for the yearly rent of one peppercorn on the first day of each year.

The Trustees shall stand possessed of the said premises upon trust to use or permit the same to be used as part of the sports ground or tennis courts by the inhabitants of the Villages of Lacey Green and the adjoining Village of Loosley Row.

Provided Always and it is hereby agreed as follows :-

If there shall be a breach of any stipulation or Provision in the Schedule or if the premises shall cease for a period of six months to be used as a sports ground or tennis courts for the inhabitants aforesaid then the Landlords may re-enter the premises without prejudice.

The Provisions and Stipulations. The obligations on the part of the Trustees

  1. To discharge all existing and future Rates, Taxes, Assessments and outgoings whatsoever imposed on or payable by the owner or occupier of the demised premises in respect thereof.
  2. To erect and maintain Twelve feet high chain link fencing around any tennis court on the sides of the court adjacent to the boundaries marked "T" on the plan.
  3. To erect and maintain good and substantial cattle proof fences on the sides of the boundary marked "T" within the boundary on the said plan.
  4. Not to assign, mortgage or assign the premises or underlet any part thereof without the previous written consent of the Landlords.
  5. Not without the Landlords previous written consent excavate or remove any soil, clay, sand or other materials from the premises.
  6. Not to erect any building or other structure on the remises unless the same shall have been approved in writing by the Landlords.
  7. To permit the Landlords or their Agents at all reasonable times to enter the premises to inspect the condition thereof and for all other reasonable purposes.
  8. To deliver up the premises at the termination of the term in a condition consistent with the foregoing provisions.

December 1972 A request by E. Biggs, secretary of the Sports Club, was made to Dick and John West of Stocken Farm for a further piece of land to extend the sports field, to be 15 feet wide joining to the tennis court and stretching in a northwards direction for 72 yards. A second tennis court and a bowling green were proposed.

April 1974. Dick West wrote agreeing to the request. The Chairman then being W.F.C Dell. click Bill & Phyllis Dell. It took until July 1975 for the Lease to be drawn up.

July 1975 Lease given by Richard Montague West and Hilda Elsie West of Stocken Farm, Lacey Green to the trustees of The Sports Club, then being William Frederick Cecil Dell (click Bill & Phyllis Dell) of Ashleigh Lacey Green, Ivor William Kelloway of The Haven (click Ivor & Joan Kelloway) Lacey Green, Geoffrey Robert Turner Bateman of Grymsdyke (click Robert & Paddy Bateman) Lacey Green and Edwin Leonard Biggs of High Peaks, Little Kimble (click Ted & Audrey Biggs)

Schedule

The landlords leased to the Trustees of the Sports Club:-- All that piece of land situate in the Parish of Lacey Green being part No.126 on the Ordinance Survey Map (1921 Edition) having a frontage to Slad Lane of 30 feet, a width of at the rear of 66 feet and a depth from the said road of five hundred or thereabouts. All which said piece of land is for the purpose of identification only delineated on the plan annexed hereto and thereon edged red to hold the same for ninety- nine years, paying the yearly rent of one peppercorn on the first day of each year.

The Trustees shall stand possessed of the said premises upon trust to use or permit the same to be used as part of the sports ground or tennis courts by the inhabitants of the Villages of Lacey Green and the adjoining Village of Loosley Row.
