John Hawes born 1837 was the son of Joseph & Jane Hawes

John and Sarah married in 1859. John was a shoemaker.
John and Sarah lived in Ye Olde Cottage. behind The Black Horse. They had a smallholding on a plot of land across the track going to the cottage and barn now known as Floyds Farm. This became known as `Em`s Piece`, and George`s sister Emma had a shepherd`s hut there in which she lived. When George moved house, Emma and her hut moved with him.
John and Sarah had 3 children as follows :-
