Highwood, Kingswood and Abbottswood were in effect one wood, and were Parish Woodland belonging to the Manor of Princes Risborough. They covered all of the south facing slope on the north side of Highwood Bottom

In the 1823 Enclosures they had been purchased by John Grubb.

By 1857 they had been sold into many lots, the smaller ones tending to be near the track at the bottom.
