CAVENDISH to MERTON COLLEGE

By 1853 Lord Cavendish had relinquished all his many properties, selling those which were freehold and surrendering those that were copyhold.

In 1853 Merton College, Oxford, acquired Winchester Wood.

28th September 1945.   PUBLIC AUCTION on behalf of Merton College.

Conveyance. THE VALUABLE ENCLOSURE OF WOODLAND being O.S. No. 415, together with valuable growing beech and other timber.

This lot abuts upon and possesses extensive frontages to the main roads leading from Princes Risborough and Great Hampden to Loosley Row.

It is at present let with other land to Messrs. C. A. and B.H. Garner and Miss V.L. Garner.  Apportioned rental £5 per annum. (a copy of these sale particulars are archived in Lacey Green Village Hall)
