The house called Clovelly was originally two attached cottages. Situated on the west side of Main Road, Lacey Green, beside a track on their south side leading to Floyds Farm which lay behind the cottages.
The first time a property name has been found was in the 1939 Register (census) when it is listed as two cottages - no 1 Groverick and no 2 Groverick.
The history of the two was very similar for some time. See Clovelly for their history up to 1838.
1838 CONVEYANCE
January 24th1838. Indenture. To Joseph Loosley the cottage on the north side of the later named No 1 Clovelly Cottages, together with garden and outbuildings.SCHEDULE To Thomas Loosley the cottage No 2 Clovelly Cottages together with garden and outbuildings.

16th OCTOBER 1874 CONVEYANCE
Thomas Loosley sold to Benjamin Saunders (click Benjamin & Jane Saunders)of Lacey Green, labourer at Speen Farm for £70 cottage no. 2 Cottage of two cottages with garden, formerly let to John Lane, now to Sarah Lane. No 1 the Cottages is attached on the north side.
APRIL 1st 1899 Conveyance

1939 REGISTER This census was made in readyness for World War II.
This is the first time a name has been found for the cottage Cottage called Groverick

SALE 1950
December 28th1950 Conveyance. John William Saunders of “The Ferns”, retired builder, the executor of W.J. Saunders, lately of Woodfield Cottage, Main Road Lacey Green sold to Horace and Ivy Rixon both no 1 and no.2 Clovelly Cottages.

All those 2 semi-detached cottages with the outbuildings, now in the respective occupancy of no 1 Horace Rixon, no 2, D. Wallington

1954. Conveyance. Horace and Ivy May Rixon sold to Emily Hickman, widow of Thomas Hickman of Hickmans Stores, land belonging to Clovelly Cottages
