Alfred Atkins born 1879 at Springfield Cottages, Denner Hill was the son of George & Emily Atkins

Ruth Turvey born 1881 at Speen was the daughter of George & Annie Turvey

In 1891 the Atkins family was living at Piggotts Common and the Turvey family was living at the adjacent hamlet of Denner Hill.

Alfred and Ruth married in 1902 and moved to Turnip End.

Alfred and Ruth Atkins had five children, all born at Turnip End, as follows :-
