Leonard was at first an agricultural labourer, later he worked for a builder and worked on the building of the T.B. Sanitorium on the Saunderton side of the hill.  Ironically he was to die there.

Harold William Janes born 1908  married Clara Elizabeth Williams, from Owlswick.  They had 3 children, Ronald Leonard Janes born 1939, Phyllis Janes born 1944 see [[Phyllis Matthews nee Janes]] and Keith Janes.
