Frederick William Floyd, born 1871 was the son of Peter and Ann Floyd, of Floyds Farm, Lacey Green.

Caroline Emma Saunders known as 'Carrie' born 1880 was the daughter of William & Bethia Saunders (click William Saunders & Bethia Janes)

Fred and Carrie married In 1905. Added at the bottom are the Report of their Marriage and list of Wedding Presents.

Fred and Carrie lived at Pound Farm, Saunderton Lea, which was also farmed by Carrie's father, William Saunders of Stocken Farm.

Fred and Carrie had 1 child as follows :-

Harry George Floyd born 1906. Harry never married

Carrie died in 1908 aged 28, when Harry was 2 yrs old.

Harry was brought up by his grandparents William and Bethia Saunders

Freehold accommodation at Lacey Green, comprising 4 rooms together with 6 acres of arable and grass land, barn, pig styes, stable, and hen houses, let to Mr Peter Floyd, an old standing tenant, at a rental of £15 per annum.   Land tax of 12 shillings and eleven pence.

Researcher's Note.  Peter Floyd, the tenant, was the father of Frederick William Floyd the purchaser.

Fred later ran a taxi service, keeping his car in the old coach house at Idle Corner his busines card read as :-

21st November 1924. Affidavity of Fred William Floyd on Land at Lacey Green, ordinance Numbers 131 and 132 at Wimble End

Deposition. I Fred William Floyd of Lacey Green, Princes Risborough, Cow-Keeper DO SOLEMNLY AND SINCERELY declare as follows :-

I am Fifty two years of age and carry on business as a Cow-Keeper at Lacey Green where I have lived all my life.

I am well acquainted with the piece of land situate at Lacey Green aforesaid delineated in the plan hereto annexed and marked "F.W.F.1" and which has been contracted to be sold by the Reverend William Robson who recently resided at Lacey Green to Guy Fletcher Luther of Princes Risborough.

During the past Fifteen years and upwards the said William Robson has been the occupant of or in possession of the said piece of and and I verily believe in the full free and undisturbed possession and enjoyment of the rents and profits thereof.

Prior to the purchase of such land by the Reverend William Robson the same (except a small portion in the occupation of Dan Floyd (click Dan & Rosehannah Floyd) of Lacey Green) was in the occupation of Peter Tyler Floyd of Lacey Green. see Peter and Ann Floyd

I depose as above from my knowledge of the neighbourhood of Lacey Green aforesaid also from having known the Reverend William Robson ever since he came to Lacey Green as Vicar thereof upwards of Twenty five years ago and from having for many years past been the occupier of property adjoining he land referred to in this my Declaration.

AND I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true and by virtue of the provisions of the Statutory Declarations Act 1835.

Harry George Floyd inherited Floyds Farm on the death of his father Fred in 1939.

Addendum

MARRIAGE  OF  Mr. F.W. FLOYD  AND MISS E.C. SAUNDERS       Bucks Free Press

October 11th 1905. At 2 o’clock on Wednesday a marriage which aroused a considerable amount of interest amid a large circle of friends and acquaintances, was solemnized at the Lacey Green Parish Church, the contracting parties being Mr. Frederick William Floyd, second son of Mr. Peter Floyd, of Lacey Green, and Miss Emma Caroline Saunders, second daughter of Mr William Saunders, of Smalldean Farm and Pound Farm. Saunderton Lea..  Both the bride and bridegroom are well known and respected in the district.

Shortly after the appointed hour, the bride, who was given away by her father, entered the edifice.   She was prettily attired in a dress of cream silk voile trimmed with chiffon, and wore a bridal veil and coronet of orange blossoms, and carried a shower bouquet composed of chrysanthemums, anemones and ferns.   Her jewellery consisted of a gold brooch, the gift of the bridegroom.

 There were six bridesmaids, the seniors being Miss Ethel Saunders and Miss Alice Saunders (sisters).   The young ladies were attired in embroidered lawn dresses trimmed with Valenciennes lace, and hats trimmed with chiffon, lace, and ribbon.   They also wore floral sprays and gold brooches (gifts from the bridegroom).  The four youthful bridesmaids were Miss Daisy Saunders (sister), Miss Daisy Floyd, and Miss Annie Floyd, and Miss Dorothy Tilbury (nieces of the bridegroom), who were smartly attired in cream dresses trimmed with lace, and in place of hats they wore wreaths of flowers. The gift from the bridegroom to each of the little maids was a brilliant set in gold, worn around the neck.

  The bridegroom was attended by his brother (Mr.George Floyd), as best man.  The nuptial ceremony was performed by the Vicar (Reverend William Robson).   As the happy couple emerged from the church they were greeted with showers of rice and confetti.

The service was choral, Miss Nancy Hawes presiding at the organ.   The interior of the church was prettily decorated with white flowers, and there was also a floral arch at the entrance of the church.  Mr Bailey, of London, kindly sent a carriage and pair for the conveyance of the bride and groom to and from the church.

The wedding breakfast was provided at the residence of the bride’s parents at Small Dean Farm.   At the breakfast the customary wishes for a long and happy married life were tendered to the bride and bridegroom. The wedding cake, a splendid specimen of the confectioner's art was supplied by Messrs Darvill of Queens Square, High Wycombe. In the evening a number of friends of the bride and bridegroom spent an enjoyable time amid the singing songs and dancing and the festivities were continued until a late hour. We may mention that Mr and Mrs Floyd will shortly take up their residence at Pound Farm, Saunderton Lea Farm

Dell, Miss L Saunders, Mr.Cecil Dell, Miss Stanley, Mr. Jas.Baker (Lacey Green), Mrs Keen, Mrs. Shoult, Mr. G. Bailey, Mr. G Bailey,jun., Mrs Leonard, Mrs Minner (London), Mr.E.J.Montague (Widmer End), Mr Joseph Bates, Mr.and Mrs Britnell, and Mr W.G.Harding (Wycombe), Mr G Gibson,(Manor Farm, Hughenden), Mr.and Mrs Floyd, Miss.L.Brazier, Mrs Anderson (Loosley Row), Mr.and Mrs Tilbury (Hillock),Mr.Hy.Saunders, Mr Jas.Plumridge (Prospect Farm), together with the employees of both the Small Dean and Saunderton Lea Farms.
