 In recent years Ted has become involved with the twinning and one of his more memorable moments was in 1982 when he exchanged Twinning Charters with M. Fernadez the Chairman of the Hambye Council.

 As a new member of the Parish Council, I have quickly learned to respect Ted's judgment and his leadership. He and his wife Jean have earned the respect and gratitude of a wide circle of local residents.

 Ted Janes was born in Speen in 1926 and apart from 4 years as a Bevin boy working in the pits, he has spent the whole of his life in the parish - the first half in Speen and the second half in Lacey Green. Ted's public activities began soon after he left Speen School at 14, He played cricket for the village team and was chairman of the Speen Labour Party, later to become chairman of the Wycombe Constituency Party. He was elected to the Parish Council in 1952 and took the chair in 1957, a position which he has held ever since.
