 The road sign just past the Pink & Lily has an interesting and unusual story behind it. Parslow Hillock residents, between them, have taken pride in caring for it and its surroundings for years.

 About 15 years ago, the sign was knocked over by a car and 10 years ago the "Lily Bottom only" arm of the sign was wrenched off ("by a lout”, a neighbour described) and stolen. As a result, replacement letters on that arm had to be in plastic, whereas the others are still in cast aluminium alloy.

		+	The Creak family at the nearby White House, including Jane, her daughter Elizabeth and husband Michael (who died 6% years ago), have been caring for the sign since it was knocked down by a car in 1984. They have repaired and repainted it every 5 to 7 years since then.

		+	In 2007, the Creak family provided today's new post and Geoff Baker (of Gomme's Forge) arranged for Gerry Hayes to make the new signs to be fixed to the post, as shown in the latest photo. Gerry did all the hard work, Geoff said repeatedly. Gerry’s speciality is woodwork and cabinet making. The arms carrying the letters screwed to them are of Canadian pine. The letters themselves were stripped of paint and cleaned by Geoff, then re-screwed in by Gerry.
