In the name of God Amen.   The six and twentieth daie of Aprill in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred and forty.

I Gyles Floyd of Lacye Greene in the parish of Princes Risborough in the Countie of Buckinghamshire, labourer, being weake and sick in bodie but of whole mind and in good and perfect remembrance, laude and praise be unto Almighty God, doe make and ordayne this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following (that is to say). First I commend my soule into the hands of God my maker, hopeing assuredly and through the merits of Jesus Christ my saviour, to be made pertaker of life everlasting.

I commend my bodie to the Church whereof it is made to be buryed in devout manner as shall seem good to my friends and executrix, hereafter named

And concerning my worldly goods and estate: - I give and bequeath '''To Anne my wife''' '''the cottage wherein I now''' '''dwell''' together '''with the close''' thereunto adjoyneing by estimacon '''foure acres''' be it more or less to have and to hould to the said Ann my wife and her assignes for and during the term of her natural life.  

And from and after her decease I give and bequeath '''to Richard Floyde''' the '''youngest son of my Brother Thomas''' '''Floyde the said cottage and close of foure acres''' to have and to hold to him, his heirs and assignes, according to the manner of the mannor of Princes Risborough. (Ed.  Refers to a property belonging to the Manor of Princes Risborough)

If it shall happen the said Richard Floyde do dye before before Anne my wife then my Will is that the said cottage and close shall remayne '''to the heires of my brother Thomas Floyde''', notwithstanding if it shall happen the said Richard to have any issue, lawfully begotten, before I die then my will is it shall remayne to the said heir of the said Richard.

'''Item 1   I give and bequeath''' to remayne for ever as standard to the house wherein I now dwell: - My bedstead standing in my chamber; Two coffers; Cubbord;  a Table in the hall; one Brass Pott; a Brass Kettle

'''Item 2   I give to my brother William Floyde and to Mary his daughter,''' five pounds apiece, to be paid within six weeks of my decease   If they should die before this, to remayne with my executrix.

'''All the rest of my goods, cattle and chattels''' whatsoever unbequeathed I give and bequeath '''to Anne my wife''' whome I doe make and ordayne my sole executrix of the my last will and testament.   And I hereby revoake and adnull all former wills.

And I desire my Brothers in law, Ralfe Stone and Edward Stone to be my witnesses, and to see this my will and testament dulie performed and for their payment I give them twelve pense apiece.   And if different or controvisie shall happen to arise conscerning anything herein contained in my will they shall descide the same according to the true intent of my meaning, in witness whereof to this my last will and testament I have hereunto Putt my hand and and soale the daie and yeare first above written and publish the same in the pece of those whose names and markes are subscribed as witnesses.
