Hallmark 2011. Hollywood Comes To Lacey Green by Trisha Johnstone
Anyone enjoying a quiet evening stroll through Lacey Green on the evening of 25th July would have been surprised to see a glittering array of Hollywood's finest alight from their cars.
The A-list guests were gathering to support Action Medical Research at an extravagant charity event at Woodbyne Fitness Clinic, bringing together famous faces from Hollywood and the movies.
Charlie Chaplin, Clint Eastwood and at least three Audrey Hepburn’s were spotted, to name but a few of those who graced the red carpet that evening.
The A-list guests were treated to a champagne reception, a 5-star paella and barbeque courtesy of David and Tracey from The King William pub in Speen, and non-stop disco.
Naturally press access was strictly limited and there are no photos of Charlie Chaplin boogying with Shrek and the babes from BayWatch, nor videos of TeenWolf break dancing, though one rogue paparazzi shot of Uncle Fester playing bar football with Harry Potter against Clint Eastwood and Ron Weasley, overseen by Sister Sara, emerged later. The match result was not recorded.
The event raised £2,300 for Action Medical Research – a charity that finds and funds the very best medical research to help stop the suffering of babies and children caused by disease and disability.
Thanks to the ride24 team who worked so hard to put on such a memorable event (and to clear up afterwards!), and to the King William pub for the food and to our neighbours for their tolerance

Hallmark February 2015. Report by Paul Johnstone
Every year at Woodbyne Fitness Clinic in Lacey Green, a number of us take on a group challenge to help keep our motivation to train regularly. These have included a number of different activities including 24 hour bike rides, kayaking, road riding, mountain biking, running, trekking, swimming etc.
Last year we took on a mountain biking and kayaking challenge through the Lake District which included a very "exciting" and very turbulent 29km kayak from the north to south tip of Lake Windermere.
This September we crossed from one side of Scotland to the other in a weekend, via running, trekking, mountain biking and kayaking. Some of us have already signed up to go back next September to attempt the same course in just one day. Along the way, we have raised thousands of pounds for various charities.
This year we thought it would be good to add the 'Movember (November) Challenge' to our schedule. Woodbyne sponsored all those who grew a moustache and fines were imposed on those refusing to do so. Fines were also incurred every time one of us missed a group training session throughout the whole month of November.
This has resulted in some pretty ridiculous looking facial hair, but we have raised a healthy £676 for Prostate Cancer. We had a lot of fun both on the events and whilst training for them. Anybody wishing to join us on any of our future group challenges and group training sessions should contact me at paul@woodbyne.co.uk
