Walter & Nellie Stein

Personal comment by Joan West. Walter Stein told me that before they escaped from Germany they were in hiding and had nothing but one cigarette between them.

Hallmark February 1990 - notice. In February Mr & Mrs Stein celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary, that's a long time, well done Nellie and Walter.

Hallmark Februay 1994 - report. It is with regret we record the recent death of Walter Stein. In many of the early editions of Hallmark, Walter was one of our feature writers. We extend our sympathy to his wife Nellie.

Hallmark February 1998 - notice. We report with sadness the death on 26th November of Nelly Stein at 87 years of age. She did not want a funeral, but instead a party with champgne, which was held at her Woodfield Road home on 4th December. She hoped to be reunited with her husband of 63 years, Walter, who died 3 years earlier,and their son, Henry who had died when aged only 46.
