Hallmark October 1983. Extract taken from the Village Hall Diamond Jubilee report by Randall Evans. "What I think was one of the best – functions ever run in the Hall. It was the "Diamond Jubilee Quiz" organised by the local W.I. on Wednesday 14th September. About twenty teams of 4 people each took’ part and an enthusiastic audience cheered them on.

Every organisation in the village was represented and most appropriately the winning team represented the Parish Council. The members were: Councillors E.W. Janes, B. Panter and D. White, together; with the clerk of the council G. Crombie. (click Ted & Jean Janes, Brian & Nell Panter, Don & Mollie White, for more about E W Janes, B Panter, D White and G Crombie.)

Research note. The Parish Council won this quiz on several occasions.

The W.I. Village Quiz on 15th October was a successful event and despite being unable to field Doreen DeGray on the W.I. team as her daughter and grand-daughter had compiled and asked the broad spectrum of questions, the Afternoon W.I. team won again. To be honest and sparing her blushes (wot, Kathleen?), such credit has to go to Kathleen Turner for her inspired guesses at times and the dredging up of almost forgotten facts! As always, there was no charge to enter a team and the usual excellent raffle prizes brought in a fair sum, added to by the collection made during the evening, so that something like £150 was given to Village Hall funds. The Afternoon W.I. is grateful to scrutineers Shirley and Michael Billsborough, to all members and others who helped in various ways but particularly to Sarah and Jane Brown.

Village Quiz, April 2023

During the evening the President, Kathleen, appealed for pictures of the first Village Hall as the Afternoon W.I. propose making a wall hanging for the new hall, depicting the previous ones. Another fundraising event for the Village Hall Funds will be a coffee morning to be held at Pondside, Kiln Lane, home of member Doris Oliver, on 19th November at 10.30am., featuring the usual bring and buy, and raffle.

Hallmark August 2023. Windmills WI. (evening). Ann Bartlett reported -

In April we hosted the Village Quiz which was a huge success as we hadn't had one since the start of Covid. Our team didn't win but it was a great fun evening. In May we discussed this year's Resolution - Clean rivers for people and wildlife, this will be voted on at Cardiff. After this we had our Cornation Tea and raised a glass to the King."

Hallmark June 2024. Report from the WI.

We were delighted with the turnout for the Village Quiz which we held in April. There were 19 tables and we would like to thank all the organisations who entered a team and those who gave raffle prizes. The High Wycombe U3A took home the winner's trophy!

We were pleased to be able to give £80 to the Lighthouse Holiday Club (the Question Master's 'fee) and £230 to Lacey Green Village Hall funds.
