Tony Adams as everyone knew him was one of the fast diminishing band, born and bred in the village. My association with him on various committees spanned 25 years. In committee he was a man of few words, but when his mind was made up it was well and truly made up, and often endorsed with a favourite expression ‘and that's it and all about it'. No doubt this was the quality that made him a respected cricket umpire throughout the Wycombe area for many years.
He was devoted to the village, a life-long member of St. John's Church, a founder and life member of the Sports Club, with a spell as Chairman, a Village Hall committee member, and a member of the Parish Council. He was a Secretary/Treasurer of the Allotment Society of unusual calibre, who not. only collected the rents from people who newly leased a piece of land in an overgrown state, but would set to and help turn a few spits over, greatly appreciated by many an aching back.
Tony was a gentleman not only in the accepted sense, but in a very declining sense, he was a 'gentle' man. - Many will miss him, none more than-his wife Lil and daughter Jill. We offer condolence,
