Hallmark February 1983. Report in the editorial by Ted Janes.

The harness of public opinion was shown very positively during 1982, when the Parish Council appealed to residents to support the County Council in it's County Structure Plan proposed to put Lacey Green and Loosley Row completely in the Green Belt, having the effect of allowing in-filling development and replacement of existing housing stock, but prohibiting any large-scale development. Out of 695 objections and representations sent to the Secretary of State for the. Environment from all of Buckinghamshire, 170 came from Lacey Green and Loosley Row. 40% of all households - quite a remarkable public participation.

Between February 8th and 18th a public examination into certain aspects of the County Structure Plan is taking place at Aylesbury. Lacey Green Parish Council have been invited to take part, much to the annoyance of many other Parish Councils, Resident Associations and Action Groups who didn't ‘shout’ as loud or as often as we did.

The Parish Council's case will be presented by Councillors Bradley and Janes with local resident: Dr. Clive Wall.

The Council's energy in getting so many parishioners to support the County Council's Structure Plan was we feel paramount in the Minister's decision that Lacey Green and Loosley Row should be placed within the Green Belt, unfortunately the way these things work, there is still another period for objecting and the Wycombe District Council are to do just that. Our Council has written to everyone that wrote supporting our action to write again letting the Department know our feelings are still the same.

"I'm sure that most of you will be keeping your fingers crossed that eventually we shall be placed within The Green Belt. Until the Minister's final decision the Council are operating as if we already are, but I still need to be vigilant. Sometimes I feel like Mrs. No!, after all, if you think about it, a councillor who succeeds in enforcing the Green Belt will have nothing to show for his/her work! Everything will look very much as it did when she/he began!

Planning is once again in the local limelight. As I hope many of you already know the modified South Bucks Structural Plan was at last released by the Department of the Environment and as we all hoped the whole of Lacey Green and Loosley Row is to be brought into the Green Belt. All seemed well until Wycombe District Council objected, wishing our villages to stay as they are and to be held in reserve for possible future development. As a result there is to be another public. enquiry. The Parish Council along with many local residents have written in support of the proposals and although we feel confident, vigilance must still be maintained.

This is the very good news that Lacey Green and Loosley Row have now been officially washed over with Green Belt status.
