Excerpt from research by Miles Marshall
Just before WW2 several houses were built on the west side of the Main Road, one of which became a new Police House (later became a private house called 'Huntingdon'). Many will remember its rather austere concrete with a blue front door, now happily obliterated by a tasteful brick and tile extension. PC Goldsmith became well known in the village and remained until well after the war, to be followed by P C’s Herbert, Adams, and Munger.
In his retirement Frank Goldsmith lived in Princes Risborough.
February 1981. Notice in Hallmark by editor Ted Janes. Last of the Old Breed. Frank Goldsmith who died on January 7th at the age of 81. Known to Risborough people for his active work for the British Legion, but remembered in the villages as one of the last cycling police men. P C Goldsmith lived for many years in the Lacey Green Police House. His duty consisted of cycling the bye-ways of the hill villages keeping things very much in 'apple-pie' order. Our sympathy goes to his family.
