William 'John' Steel was born 1801 in Haddenham. He married twice.

His 1st wife was Hannah, born in Ford. They had 5 children - see below.

In 1838 Windmill Farm and the Windmill, Lacey Green was let to John Steel for 14 years, 1838 - 1852

Jane Coster Steel born 1826 in Haddenham married Jonah Lacey in 1847. See Jonah & Jane Lacey.

John Steel born 1830 in Haddenham. John worked with his father as a miller at Lacey Green

Sarah Steel born 1837 in Eaton Bray married George Cheshire in 1865. See George & Sarah Cheshire

His 2nd wife was Tamar Chilton married in 1840, aged 22. born c1818. (daughter of William Chilton, labourer)

In census 1861 at Park Field, Princes Risborough, William Steel 56, unable to work, formerly miller, Tamar Steel 61, blind for 4 years

In census 1871 at Park Field, Princes Risborough, William Steel 67, born Haddenham, farm labourer.

William John Steel died in 1877 aged 72

In 1881 census. Hannah Steel aged 70 (born 1811) is living with Jonathon & Mary Janes. Hannah is recorded as 'blind for 10 years'

Tamar died in 1883 aged 72.
