John Janes born 1822 was the son of Thomas & Elizabeth Janes

Elizabeth Randall born 1825 was the daughter of William & Ann Randall

John and Elizabeth married in 1850

In 1855 John purchased 6 acres of land at Highwood Bottom. (Research note. It became called Sunnybank and much later White House Farm.)

1851 Census. John 29 and Elizabeth Mary 27 living with Elizabeth widow (John's mother) in Highwood Bottom

May 1855 John Janes sold 2 pieces of land in Lacey Green for £5 in order to build a Methodist Chapel

March 1861. Death of John Janes aged 39.

1861 Census. Elizabeth Mary Janes 37 widow farming 6 acres in Highwood Bottom

August 7th 1870    Conveyance to Trustees of the Methodist Chapel

Mrs. Elizabeth Janes, widow of the late John Janes of Highwood Bottom, sold to the trustees of the Methodist Chapel extra land at Lacey Green for £2 -- A small piece of ground adjoining the chapel, 6 feet wide and 60 feet long.

1871 Census. Elizabeth M Janes 40 farmer; John Janes 23 farm labourer; Ruth 13 Janes; Caroline Janes 11; Eva Janes 7.

1881 Census. Elizabeth Janes 54 widow, farming 6 acres of land; John Janes 37 farmer's son; Caroline Janes 21 dau. lacemaker; Eva Janes dau.18 lacemaker; William Ginger 40 unmarried lodger farm labourer.

1891 Census. Elizabeth Janes 64 widow; John Janes 47 single farm labourer; William Ginger 50 single boarder farm labourer

John and Elizabeth Mary had 4 children as follows :-

John Randall Janes born 1848

Ruth Caroline Janes born 1858 died 1875 aged 17

Caroline Ruth Janes born 1859 married Boaz Janes circa 1886. When she was 21 years old and still single, Miss Caroline Janes, daughter of John and Elizabeth Janes of Highwood Bottom sold on November 19th 1880,to Moses Tomkins, as trustee of the Methodist Chapel, Lacey Green, land on which to build a Schoolroom.  This was opened in 1886.
