Hallmark August 1986. Report from the Methodist Chapel. "Loss of a great church leader.
It is with deep regret that our church reports the sad loss of one of its oldest and most loyal members in the passing of Mr William Joseph Claydon. Joe, as he was known to all, was born in 1904 in Lacey Green, the village which was his home for the whole of his life. His life-long interest in the Methodist Church began as a boy scholar in the Sunday School, later to become a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years, but the most important office he held with great dedication for over 60 years was as Society steward.
A large congregation attended the funeral service at the Methodist Church when the Rev. Geffrey Jones paid tribute on behalf of ministers and local preachers with whom he had contact in his long association with the church."
Hallmark February 1994. Hallmark February 1994. Obituary of Mrs Evangeline Claydon. report by Kathleen Church. Mrs Claydon of 'Chamonix', Kiln Lane was for 36 years secretary to the Church Council of the Lacey Green Methodist Church. So members and friends experienced a great loss by her sudden death. Mrs Claydon was well known in Methodist circles as local representative to High Wycombe Circuit meetings. Relatives and friends travelled conssiderable distances to join the large congregation at the funeral service conducted by the Reverend David Stringer. Tea was served at the church by the women's fellowship. At the time of bereavement and sorrow, we offer Dennis our condolences.
