Hallmark May 1999. Jingle Tots

Starting on 7th May 1999 at Loosley Row Baptist Chapel, Jingle Tots is a brand-new venture for the Village, offering singing and rhythm sessions for mothers, babies and toddlers. Jingle Tots is being organised and run by Fiona Insley, a qualified music teacher, who has lived in Loosley Row for much of her life...

Fiona decided to start Jingle Tots after returning to the area with a young baby, following a year abroad. “I was very keen to join a music group for babies, knowing how much they respond to singing and rhythm. However, there was nothing locally, so I thought I would do something about it! Since I started planning the group, I have read more and more about the benefits of singing to children. Not only do they learn about themselves and the world they live in, but it speeds up development of speech, reading and co-ordination”.

Jingle Tots promises to be not only educational, but great fun for all. “Everyone will be encouraged to sing, to move and, above all, to enjoy music making. And the children will have the chance to make lots of noise accompanying themselves on a selection of fun shakers, maracas and bells”.

Jingle Tots meets at 10 a.m. on Friday mornings at Loosley Row Baptist Chapel (by kind permission of the trustees). Cost per session is £2.00 per child (and £1.00 for additional siblings).

Jingle Tots was eventually taken over by Jenny Stothard and merged with Kindergym
