Jesse & Charlotte Dell

Jesse Dell born 1800 was the son of Thomas Dell Jnr. & Mary,nee Carter

Charlotte Martin was the daughter of

Jesse and Charlotte married in 1822 at Hughenden

In the Census they lived at Darvills Hill. Jesse was a chair turner (bodger), baker and grocer, the shop was run by Charlotte. (Put 'bodger' in Search for other wood turners.)

Charlotte died in 1868

Probate. Jesse died on 29th June 1878. His executor was Jesse Dell, chair manufacturer, his son.

Jesse and Charlotte had 6 children as follows :-

Simeon Dell born 1824 married Elizabeth Alice Tilbury from Little Kingshill. They had 2 children, Uriah born 1871 and Ann Charlotte born 1877. Simeon died in 1878.

Mary Ann Dell born 1826 married James Martin of Upper North Dean. James was a wheelwright.

Benjamin Dell born 1829 married Ann Gomme in 1857. click Benjamin & Ann Gomme

Emma Dell born 1831 married William Charge in 1864. William was born in Great Hampden. They lived in Naphill. He worked at the brickworks.

Rebecca Dell born 1833 married Jesse Janes in 1853. They had 5 children - Hephzibah born 1856 married Noah Essex from Prestwood, Dinah born 1858 married Tom Clark, butcher from Biggleswade, Frederick born 1863, Ralph born 1866 and Oliver born 1870.

Jesse Dell born 1836 married Martha Gibbs in 1858. In the 1861 census they are living with her parents in Speen. Martha died in 1862.
